We hope you’re keeping safe and well. These are difficult times, but being part of an international poetry community feels more important than ever, and we hope we will be able to provide a platform over the coming months for poets, translators and readers to come together, collaborate and share.
The virus has had two immediate impacts on MPT. Firstly, our launch event for the spring 2020 issue, originally billed as part of Newcastle Poetry Festival, has been cancelled. We’re now planning an online launch for this issue, generously supported by The Japan Society, and will share details of that soon.
Secondly, we are dealing now with an unreliable postal system, particularly internationally, with huge backlogs in the system and some countries refusing international post. We have mailed the Spring issue out to UK subscribers, but have been advised to put our international mailout on hold. We will let you know when we are able to post internationally again, but hope those subscribers affected will forgive us for the delay.
A quick reminder that, as a paying subscriber, you can still read the new issue online – you’re entitled to free access to our online archive, which includes the latest issue. Contact us on webeditor@mptmagazine.com if you’d like assistance accessing this resource.
Finally – if you support what we do, please keep reading, keep subscribing, keep sharing poems from the magazine. Help the best world poetry travel, even when we can’t.
